Where I work
Every landscape
asks for something
different.
The character of a place changes within a few miles, and the design should change with it. A garden that belongs in a Chiltern village would look lost in a London terrace, and the other way round.
Hertfordshire
Home ground.
Hertfordshire is where I am based and where most of my work is. It is a county of market towns, old villages and a lot of in-between: gardens that back onto farmland on one side and a housing estate on the other.

Hertfordshire sits in the middle of the home counties, so a good deal of my work spills over the border one way or another. The counties either side of me are the ones I know best, and the ones further out are worth a conversation.

Small, enclosed, and worth doing properly.
London gardens are usually smaller, overlooked and hemmed in by walls and buildings. None of that is a reason to settle for paving and a pot.

Commercial and public spaces
Pubs, hospitality venues and shared or public spaces are welcome across all of these areas. They come with their own considerations, and they are some of the most enjoyable projects to work on.
